Harry Owen 

Flamenco guitarist, has firmly established himself as one of Canada's leading flamenco guitarists for over 35 years. Harry began his career in Vancouver in the early 70's, toured throughout Canada and appeared on numerous national TV specials. Under Haber Productions, he was promoted with the likes of Liona Boyd, Karen Kain and the Canadian Brass. Harry has had the opportunity to study with Manolo San Lucar at the International Guitar Festival in Arles, France, and with Guillermo Basilisco in London, England.

In the 80's, Harry moved to Toronto where he worked as a dance accompanist with many local dance companies which led to touring across the United States. During his residence in Toronto, he was exposed to many fine flamenco artists including Manolete, Pepe Habichuela, Concha Vargas, La Farruquilla, La Tati, José "Chuscales" Valle, La Repompa, La Bronce, Boriquon and Vicente Soto.

In 1990, Harry and his wife, flamenco dancer Veronica Maguire, moved to Victoria where he co-founded Alma de España Flamenco Dance Company and School.

Since then, he has performed in major concerts throughout Western Canada, including guest appearance for the Victoria Symphony Concert Series, as well as collaborating with several classical musicians in a number of concerts.

In 2000, Harry was co-recipient of a Canada Council Grant for Professionals to pursue further studies in Spain. In 2002, Harry released his first CD, "Alma de España Flamenco Live" with cantaor Jimenez "Carancha" and dancer Veronica Maguire.

Throughout his career, Harry has maintained and perfected the traditional sound of flamenco guitar. This dedication and passion continues to captivate and enthrall his audiences wherever he performs.
